CAFERGOT: A migraine medicine.
CALDEROL: Capsules used for increased serum calcium levels ... 20 UG, 50 UG.
CALADRYL: Topical poison ivy treatment.
CALAN: For angina, arrhythmias, hypertension. It is a calcium channel blocker.
CALCITONIN: Calcium regulator ... often used for Paget's disease of bone.
CALTRATE: Calcium carbonate supplement.
CANESTEN: Antifungal cream.
CAPOTEN: For CHF, Post MI, Hypertension. It is primarily used as an ACE inhibitor to control blood pressure.
CAPOZIDE:Anxiety. Prevents certain enzymes in the body from constricting blood vessels. This helps to lower blood pressure and makes the heart beat stronger. Thiazides are diuretics (water pills) that help to reduce blood pressure. This medication is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure).
CAPTOPRIL: Antihypertensive.
CARAFATE: For duodenal ulcers.
CARBAMAZEPINE: Generalized tonic-clonic for the treatment of partial and mixed seizures; See "Tegretol". It is also used for the pain of peripheral neuropathy. This oral medicine can often break dystonia muscle spasms.
ARBIDOPA: For Parkinson.
CARBOCAINE: Local anesthetic; See mepivacaine.
CARBOLIC ACID: An antiseptic and disinfectant produced from coal tar.
CARDENE: Antianginal ... antihypertensive.
CARDIA XT:
CARDIZEM: Angina, hypertension.
CARDURA: Hypertension ... blood pressure medicine. Implicated in a small number of patients experiencing impotency.
CARNITOR: Also called ... "levocarnitine". For carnitine deficiency in ESRD.
CASODEX: Investigational ...
CATAFLAM: This medication is a nonsteroidal anti?inflammatory drug that relieves pain and reduces inflammation (swelling). It is used to treat headaches, muscle aches, dental pain, menstrual cramps and athletic injuries. It is commonly used to treat pain, swelling and stiffness associated with arthritis.
CATAPRES: Hypertension ... blood pressure.
CAVERJECT: Generic = alprostadil. Vasodilating agent ... for prostate problems ... for the treatment of impotency ... 10 mcg, 10 mcg/ml, 20 mcg, 20 mcg/ml, 5 mcg.
CECLOR: Susceptible infections including otitis media, respiratory or urinary tract.
CEDAX: Investigational oral cephalosporin antibiotic. For respiratory and urinary tract infections.
CEFACLOR: Bactericidal antibiotic.
CEFAZOLIN: Antibacterial.
CEFIZOX: Cephalosporin type antibiotic commonly used in powder form for IV or IM injections.
CEFOTAXIME: Antibacterial.
CEFOTETAN: Anti-bacterial for infections i.e., lower respiratory, urinary tract, bone, intraabdominal, skin, joint, gynecologic.
CEFTAZIDIME: Antibiotic (bactericidal).
CEFTIN:Susceptible infections including pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, otitis media, skin, urinary tract, gonorrhea.
CEFTRIAXONE: Antibiotic.
CEFUROXIME: Antibacterial, cephalosporin.
CEFZIL: This medication is a cephalosporin?type antibiotic used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections, such as respiratory tract infections, middle ear infections, skin infections, and tonsillitis.
CELEBREX: Painkiller. Anti-inflammatory for osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. (Generic name is "celecoxib). It is considered less likely to cause stomach ulcers than traditional medicines in the year 2000. This drug is comparable to ibuprofen and naproxen for the relief of arthritic pain but it has less risk of causing bleeding or obstructions of the intestines. Also, used to treat precancerous colon polyps due to a rare hereditary disease called FAP (familial adenomatous polyposis).
CELESTONE: Steroid responsive disorders.
CELEXA: Used for depression.
CELLCEPT: Properly spelled "CellCept. Also called ... "mycophenolate mofetil". A medication used to prevent rejection of an organ, which has been transplanted by suppressing the immune system. 500 mg, 200 mg/ml, 250 mg. CellCept harnesses a runaway immune system.
CENTRUM: Vitamin/mineral supplement.
CEPACOL: Over-the-counter antiseptic mouthwash / gargle.
CEPHALEXIN: For susceptible infections (see Keflex and deftab).
CEPHALOSPORIN: Antibiotic.
Anti-convulsant.
CERUMENEX: Eardrops designed to disperse earwax.
CERUPOXIME: Bactericidal antibiotic.
CETACAINE: Local anesthetic, which comes in the form of a spray, ointment, liquid or gel.
CETAMIDE: Susceptible infections of conjunctivae and cornea.
CETAPHIL: Lotion for dermatitis.
CETRORELIX: Also called ... "Cetrotide". An LHRH antagonist.
CETROTIDE: Also called ... "cetrorelix". An LHRH antagonist.
CEVIMELINE HYDROCHLORIDE: Also called Evoxac. For dry mouth.
CHLORAL HYDRATE: A gas used as a general anesthetic.
CHLORAMPHENICOL: An older antibiotic.
CHLOROMYCETIN: An antibiotic.
CHLOROQUINE: A medication used to treat malaria.
CHLOROTHIAZIDE: A medication, which increases urine production.
CHLORPROMAZINE: Tranquilizer medication.
CHLORPROPAMIDE: Adjunct in diet to Type II diabetes Mellitus.
CHLORTHALIDONE: Diuretic ... antihypertensive. See "Cardura" and "Hygroton".
CHLOR-TRIMETON:A drug that sops up bile. It is typically used for hypercholesterolemia, pruritus (due to partial biliary obstruction).
CHROMAGEN: Hematinic (a medication which increases the amount of erythrocytes and hemoglobin) ... 66 mg; 250 mg; 100 mg; 10 UG.
CHROMA-PAK: Properly spelled ... "Chroma-Pak". IV nutritional therapy ... chromic chloride hexahydrate.
CHRONULAC: Lactulose laxative in syrup form ... 10g/15 ml.
CHROPROPAMIDE: Respiratory stimulant.
CILOSTAZOL: Also called ... "Pletal". Facilitates blood flow through clogged arteries.
CILOXAN: Antibiotic eye drops ... 3.4 mg/mL.
CIMETIDINE: A medicine used to control stomach acid. Also, when combined with an antihistamine it improves the effect of the antihistamine. Has been known to mobilize the body's immunity system to attack warts (results are seen in two months).
CINCHONA: The main source of Quinine ... same effects. Large amounts depress heart functions.
CINCHOPHEN: Synthetic compound used to treat rheumatism and gout. Note: This medication is damaging to the liver.
CIPRO: General infections; urinary tract infections. Note, has been associated with tendon inflammation.
CIPROCOL THROAT LOZENGES:
CIPROFLOXACIN: Antibacterial. For susceptible infection of conjunctiva and cornea; lower respiratory tract; skin; skin structures.
CISPLATIN: Alkylating antineoplastic.
CIS-PLATINUM:Alkylating antineoplastic.
CITALOPRAM: For depression.
CITRATE OF MAGNESIA: Laxative.
CITRUCEL: For constipation ... irritable bowel syndrome ... diverticulosis.
CLADRIBINE: Chemotherapy drug that can slow down the runaway multiplication of cells.
CLAFORAN: Antibiotic powder used for IV or IM injections to treat susceptible bacteremia.
CLARITIN: For seasonal allergic rhinitis. Antihistamine. Does not make people sleepy.
CLEOCIN: For serious susceptible infections; female pelvic; genital; skin; soft tissue. Antibiotic.
CLEOCIN T: Topical antibiotic for acne.
CLIDINIUM: This combination medication is used in the treatment of stomach disorders such as ulcers or irritable bowel syndrome. Chlordiazepoxide acts to relieve anxiety and tension. Clidinium slows down activity of the gastrointestinal tract and reduces stomach acid.
CLIMARA: For menopausal disorders and hypogonadism. It is made from soya beans and comes in the form of a transdermal patch.
CLINORIL: Arthritic pain.
CLINDAMYCIN: Antibiotic.
CLOBETASOL: A cortisone medication that is incorporated into an Orabase paste that keeps the medicine on the surface of mouth sores.
CLOMID: Ovulation stimulant.
CLOMIPRAMINE: Antidepressant (tricyclic)
CLOMIPRIMID: Generic drug used for antidepressant.
CLONAZEPAM: Anticonvulsant. This oral medicine can often break dystonia muscle spasms.
CLONIDINE: Hypertension.
CLOPIDOGREL: Also called ... "Plavix". Facilitates blood flow through clogged arteries.
CLOZARIL: For severe schizophrenia.
COAL TAR: Introduced more than 50 years ago and still in use for psoriasis.
COGENTIN: Used to treat symptoms of Parkinson's disease. Comes in .5 mg, 1 mg, 2 mg.
COGNEX: (Tacrine) Restores some functions of the brain due to Alzheimer's disease (not a wonder drug).
COLACE: Stool softener.
COLCHICINE: Gout.
COLESTID: Also called ... "colestipol HCL". Ani-cholesterol (antilipemic agent) medication ... 1 G, 5 G, 7.5 G or powder granules.
COLESTIPOL: A cholesterol lowering medication which works in the intestines by binding with cholesterol which contains bile acids and eliminating them through the bowels.
COLFED: For allergies
COMBIPATCH: Properly spelled ... "CombiPatch". Transdermal patch for hormone therapy for women.
COMBIVENT: Inhaler.
COMBIVIR: HIV treatment.
COMBRETASTATIN: Cancer drug, which prevents blood flow to tumors thus, starving them into submission. The drug was originally synthesized from an African plant called the Bush Willow.
COMPAZINE: Severe nausea and vomiting.
COMTAN: Antiparkinson agent classified as an angiotensin II receptor blocker ... 200-MG tablets. Active ingredient is entacapone. Doses: 400-800 MG/day. Often given in combination with Sinemet to increase Sinemet's effectiveness.
COMTREX: Allergies, sinus.
COMVAX: Vaccination for infants (six weeks to 15 months) against H. Influenza type b and hepatitis B ... used where the mother is HBsAg negative.
CONCERTA: For attention deficit disorder.
COPAXONE: Injection; relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis.
CORDARONE: Also known as "amiodarone". A brand name for a drug that controls the rhythm of the heart. Used to treat atrial fibrillation (a common heart flutter).
COREG: CHF, hypertension. Categorized as a beta-blocking drug that can assist the heart in beating more effectively.
CORGARD: Antihypertensive. Beta-blocker which prevents nerve signal from reaching the heart to decrease heart contractions and thus lower blood pressure.
CORICIDIN-D: Pediatric decongestant, antihistamine and analgesic.
CORPROPAMIDE: Currently being researched.
CORRECTOL: 65/100 tablets are used to treat short-term constipation.
CORTAID: Currently being researched.
CORTEF: Corticosteroid cream.
CORTICOSTEROID: One of 21 carbon steroids produced by the adrenal cortex.
CORTISONE: A group of drugs which are the most effective available for decreasing inflammation. Cortisone creams are often effective at reducing itching. Side effects can include high blood pressure, weak bones, and cataracts. Also, fat sometimes migrates from the arms and legs to the face and trunk. Note, cortisone is a hormone excreted by the adrenal glands. Shown to slow down the relapse of multiple sclerosis.
CORTISOL: Topical/ophthalmic corticosteroid. A hormone which raises blood pressure when stress occurs in the human body.
CORTISONE: There are many cortisone drugs ... they are fighters of inflammation by regulating white blood cells that rush to an inflamed area. It suppresses the manufacture of inflammation chemicals.
CORTISPORIN: Susceptible infections of external auditory canal, mastoidectomy, and fenestration cavities.
CORTIZONE-5: Corticosteroid ointment.
CORTIZONE-19: Corticosteroid ointment.
COSOPT: For glaucoma.
COUMADIN:Trademark for an ant-clotting drug. Thromboembolic disorders.
COVERA: Angina, hypertension.
COZAAR: Hypertension.
CREATIN: Muscle building supplement.
CREON: A pill full of digestive enzymes.
CRIXIVAN: Treatment of HIV infection.
CROMOLYN: Prophylactic antiasthmatic.
CROMOLYN EYE DROPS: Eye drops for keratoconjunctivitis.
CYANOCOBALAMIN: A potent combination of drugs used to treat B-12 deficiency.
CYCLOBENZAPRINE: Musculoskeletal relaxant ... see Flexeril.
CYCLOPHOSPHAMIDE: Used to control immunity systems, which are out-of-control.
CYCLOSPORIN: An oral drug used to decrease the immunity system to combat psoriasis. Also used following heart transplants to reduce the possibility of rejection. Note: Should not be taken with St. John's Wort because it can increase the possibility of rejection.
CYCRIN: Progesterone tablets (2.5, 5 & 10 mg).
CYLERT: Attention deficit disorder with anxiety.
CYTOGAM: Spelled "CytoGam". Generic name is CMV-IGIV. Used as a prophylaxis against cytomegalovirus.
CYTOMEL: Thyroid hormone.
CYTOTEC: Prevention of NSAID-induced gastric ulcer.
CYTOXAN: Trademark drug used in the treatment of many malignancies.
